Beyond the composer

Spending time working on projects outside of academia has provided me with many skills that are now an integral part of my work and my identity. Learning to scratch, over UK Garage, 140s and Breaks is a skill that I have recently learnt and is something I am proud to share. You can watch my reflection on this learning process, and the set, below

MY EXPERTISE

All Things Sound

Since the start of my musical career as a 12 year old with a cheap keyboard, I have fully immersed myself in the musical world.

Spending years competing internationally at Orchestral and Big Band compeitions, moving on to more solo and band performance as a drummer and bass player in my late teens. Going to university, my interest in composition fourished, writing classical scores for full orchestras, modernist solos, jazz suites and film scores. Beyond the standards of traditional composition, I have come to appreciate the art of studio composition, writing soundscapes and manipulating samples in ways I never experienced before.

Beyond the Academics, I spend a lot of my free time in the studio, writing new music, recording artists and getting lost in new, and old, technology. My passion for sound and the way in which it can be manipulated is endless and it is a world that I strive to be a part of.
